Sometimes you can bid high even when faced with such a competition rich pool but you have to be impressive with the skills you bring to the table. Clearly the employer is out for a cheaper worker but cheap sometimes ends costly with slow performance and mistakes with the data. Let them know that their money is better spent on you.
